New York Comic Con 2015 | Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo Talk Batman!

Since the very beginning of DC’s New 52 relaunch, writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo have been the best-selling creative team of Batman for nearly 50 issues. In that timespan, they’ve introduced the Court of Owls as the secret puppet masters of Gotham City, added a major twist to Bruce Wayne’s family history, redefined The Joker, and seemingly killed off Batman himself!

The latest Batman status quo is perhaps the wildest one to date. Wayne is back, but he has no memory of being Batman. And the man who stepped up to become the new Batman was none other than former Police Commissioner James Gordon!

At New York Comic Con, CraveOnline caught up with Snyder and Capullo as they discussed how long Gordon’s transition into the role of Batman was in the works while teasing the dark future of Bruce Wayne. He may not be Batman anymore, but Wayne still has a lot to lose!

Additionally, Snyder and Capullo delve into the creation of Mr. Bloom, the first new Bat-villain created specifically to go up against Gordon’s Batman. How do you make a man with a flower on his mask into one of the creepiest villains in comics? Capullo tells us how.

Also, the duo react to the Cosplayers who have brought their take on The Joker, the James Gordon Batman and even Mr. Bloom. Capullo even talks at length about his plans to step away from DC Comics after his contract expires with Batman # 50 in order to work on a new project with Mark Millar, the writer and creator of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Wanted, and Kick-Ass.

Snyder will be staying on Batman while Capullo works with Millar, but the duo also promised a return project that they described as “DC Universe changing.”
