Of Monsters And Men Kick Off World Tour In Toronto

Of Monsters and Men, the up-and-coming Icelandic band making waves in the industry, is headed to a number of Canadian festivals this summer as part of their recently launched tour, which kicked off in Toronto last night – they’ll also play Osheaga in Montreal and the Squamish Valley Music Festival in BC.

The tour will captivate fans even more leading up to the release of their second studio album, Beneath The Skin. Pre-order is available now. Their debut album, My Head is an Animal, helped them win the 2013 European Border Breakers Awards.

Of Monsters and Men is made up of lead singer Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdottir, vocalist/guitarist Ragnar “Raggi” Þorhallsson (spelled Thorhallsson in English), and three other band mates.

“Our first album was pretty story based and very much us exploring with that,” Hilmarsdottir explained to CBC News. ”The first one was more monsters and this one is men,” added Þorhallsson. “I think this album is darker, it’s heavier, a bit more open, the lyrics, and more up front.”

Of Monsters and Men will play at Osheaga (July 31st to August 2nd), Squamish Valley Music Festival on August 8th, as well as the Toronto Urban Roots Fest and dozens of Europe, Australia and Japan dates. They’ll wrap things up in the UK on November 27th.
