The Crew Runs at 1080p/30FPS on Both Xbox One and PS4

The Crew is set to launch tomorrow, and review copies have begun to arrive at several outlets. As a result of this, information is beginning to trickle out regarding the game’s technical details, and thankfully they’re making a positive early impression.

One thing we’ve learned is that The Crew will run at 1080p and 30 frames per second on both the Xbox One and PS4 versions. Secondly, the PC version will be capable of running at a much smoother 60 frames per second, with additional visual options to increase visual quality beyond that of the console versions.

So you might be wondering if the current-generation console versions have been hit by the parity that made Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Unity a subject of controversy. While we won’t know for certain until both versions are compared side-by-side, Grand Theft Auto V‘s remaster similarly ran at 1080p and 30 frames per second on both versions. However, there was a difference in presentation despite the equal resolution and framerate. While the PS4 version rendered more foliage on screen as a result of its more powerful GPU, the Xbox One maintained a slightly steadier framerate when traversing at high speeds due to its higher clocked CPU. This could be the case with The Crew.

More than anything what’s important is that what will undoubtedly become known as the largest open-world racing game in history is able to run at 1080p on current-generation consoles. This is a new IP with huge ambition, and it’s great to see it hit the 1080p mark that many gamers look for when purchasing games on their new consoles.

The Crew will debut tomorrow on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PC.
