Stranded: Interpol Stuck In 40-Hour Snowstorm, Surviving on Vodka & Starburst

Anyone got a snowmobile and some beef jerky? As Interpol rocked the Newport Music Hall in Columbus on Monday, a snowstorm arrived in the Midwest and essentially cancelled everyone’s travel plans. Power is out, cars are piling up and fatalities have reached double-digits as Winter rears its frigid demon-bitch head. As a result, the New York rockers were stranded – and remain so – en route to Tuesday’s scheduled show in Toronto.

The show was inevitably cancelled, with the band posting the following apology note on their website:

Dear Toronto,

Our bus is trapped in a snowstorm just outside of Buffalo. We haven’t moved our position on the road in over nine hours. Unfortunately, we’ll have to cancel tonight’s concert at the Kool Haus. We were greatly looking forward to the show but the big bad winter has come early this year. We will be informing people of a new date as soon as we can.

All the best,

Interpol

The band is still stuck on the road, their bus impossibly snowed in on the locked-down freeway. Guitarist Daniel Kessler and touring member Brandon Curtis have been posting an updates on Twitter, which range between frustration and hilarity. The duo are documenting their struggle, which has left the guys with very little resources – they’re subsiding on vodka and various snacks for the time being, including Starburst candies. The latest update doesn’t look promising, with a picture snow plows buried under a mountain of the stuff they’re supposed to be clearing.

Not so fast, boys…
