EA is Considering Adding Female Players to FIFA Series

EA added female MMA fighters to EA Sports UFC, so now many are calling for them to add female players to the FIFA series. According to FIFA 15‘s lead producer, this could be a feature that will be implemented in the future, and one that EA has considered.

Speaking to Play magazine, FIFA 15 producer Sebastien Enrique said: “We have thought about [adding female players], and yes, and we get asked about doing it.

“People ask us for a lot of things every year, including female teams and even including FIFA Street within a FIFA game as a five-a-side mode. And that’s good – I want people to tell us what they want in the game.”

He continued: “It’s always a matter of balancing what we want to build with what we can build. We always need to make sure that what we can build and what we include ends up being the right package and so far women’s football hasn’t made the cut.”

While this doesn’t sound like anything that EA has in the pipeline for the series just yet, it would certainly be a great addition as interest in female club and international football continues to rise.

EA Sports UFC only incorporated a handful of female MMA fighters into the mix, and it would be more difficult for EA to acquire the licenses to use the likenesses of entire female football clubs, so this is an addition that we shouldn’t expect for at least a few more years. If this eventually becomes the case, though, then this would certainly be an exciting new venture for EA’s most lucrative sports series.
