Ryse: Son of Rome is Heading to PC This Fall

After nearly a year of Xbox One exclusivity, Ryse: Son of Rome is coming to PC. Crytek announced the move this morning, stating that they would self-publish the digital version while Deep Silver would publish physical copies.

Director of business development at Crytek Carl Jones shared the following about the news:

We are bringing the Ryse experience to PC, with 4K resolution support. 4K gaming is another leap in graphics quality for PC gamers and Ryse is the perfect showcase for what’s now possible in high-end PC games. We’ve given our team the opportunity to show what CRYENGINE can really achieve, without compromising quality, thanks to the incredible hardware available now to PC gamers. Ryse will be a benchmark PC graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future. Our community asked for a Ryse PC version, and we have the means and technology to deliver this title with the highest quality possible.

So not only is this the gorgeous hack and slash game that some consider to be one of the top three graphically impressive console games on the market, but it’s a proper PC port. That means there will be settings and options to make it look even better. Given Crytek’s PC history, this could end up becoming the next great PC benchmark.

Check out how good it looks on PC already in the screenshots below:

Ryse: Son of Rome was one of the most marketed Xbox One exclusives of last year. Despite its unimpressive critical reception, it was an important game for Microsoft. Nonetheless, true Xbox exclusivity is being increasingly rare.  Games like Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Dead Rising 3 are only short-term timed exclusives, while even big first-party games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection are rumored to be going multi-platform. Microsoft may have been serious when it recently said it would devote more resources to appealing to PC gamers. And with the PC gaming industry flourishing like it has been, that’s a good move.

Ryse: Son of Rome will release on PC this Fall.
