Long-Awaited inFamous: Second Son Patch Arrives Tomorrow

It’s been almost a month since inFamous: Second Son came out. While it was a very polished game, gamers have requested a few features since launch. Several of those features will be implemented tomorrow in the form of a free downloadable update.

Most of the changes included in the patch remedy common requests of players. For one, you’ll have an option to cap the framerate at 30. You may have noticed that the framerate is a bit jumpy. By capping it at 30, the presentation will be much more consistent.

Additionally, you’ll be able to change the time of day after you’ve completed the game. So long are the days of existing in a Seattle stuck in time.

Want to disable the UI for a perfect screenshot? Soon you’ll be able to. A HUD disable option will be added to the settings so you can hide anything between you and the game world.

Beyond those three promised features, there are some extras as well. They include:

  • A handful of localization text changes, and a couple of fixes for rare crashes in the game (Thanks to all of you who uploaded reports on those, they were extremely helpful!).
  • If your controller runs out of batteries in the middle of gameplay, your game will pause. Our art director pulled a hamstring scrambling to get his second controller mid-boss-battle, so we needed to fix this.
  • If you’re choosing expert difficulty, we let you know within the options dialog if you’re qualified for the “Unstoppable” trophy the moment you opt in.
  • Photo Mode.

This patch will be made available tomorrow. To install the update, boot up inFamous: Second Son once the patch goes live and you should receive a download prompt.
