Bethesda Has a “Bleeding-Edge” Next-Gen RPG in the Works

It’s been a while since Bethesda has peeped its head into the video game market. The wait should be worth it, though.

Bethesda is currently seeking a game programmer for what it calls “bleeding-edge RPG development for the PC and consoles”. Unsurprisingly, the Xbox One and PS4 are mentioned in the post.

The question we instinctively ask is which IP the game in question belongs to. Fallout and The Elder Scrolls have both been incredibly successful, and could benefit greatly from better hardware.

I happen to think Bethesda’s next release will be a Fallout game for two reasons. For one, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched only two years ago. Secondly, The Elder Scrolls Online is coming in April. It acts as an intermediary Elder Scrolls release with console versions not forgotten.

The lengthy delay between releases appears to stem from the studio’s focus on next-gen hardware. A new engine is likely in the cards whether or not it’s a refined version of the “Creation Engine” that powered Skyrim. What this means for the upcoming game remains to be seen, but it’s a safe bet that much better visuals, effects, and physics will be included.
