Watch: The 360, Daniel Johns Collaboration Is Not What You Expect

The first taste of the 360, Daniel Johns collaboration is right around the corner with the pair finally releasing a teaser for a new single.

The former Silverchair frontman co-wrote ‘Impossible’, the lead single from the fourth coming 360 album Utopia, due mid-2014.

Dubstep clearly appears to be a major theme in ‘Impossible’ and Johns provides vocals for the chorus- something that wasn’t always meant to be the plan when Johns began writing for 360, also known as Matt Colwell.

This began as a songwriting experiment for Matt’s record Johns told News.com.au.

Neither of us ever expected I’d end up singing on the song too but we both really liked the demo so eventually we thought – ‘why not’? Hip hop is obviously more Matt’s world than mine but we had a lot more in common than one would expect so it was a really interesting collaboration.

The pair where introduced through Johns’ brother Heath, 360’s publisher.

“I didn’t think Daniel would be down for working with some Aussie rap dude but he did a bit of research,” 360 told News Ltd.

“This is the first thing he’s done with a rapper. We hit it off straight away, we had so much in common. Stuff he went through ages ago with Silverchair I was going through at the time we met last year – suddenly being thrown into fame and dealing with the pressures. So we really got along quickly.

The video clip, paid entirely for by 360, is the first to feature Johns since Silverchair were still in that line of business back in 2007.

‘Impossible’ is due later this month on the 17th while Johns is expected to release a solo album later in the year. Back in May, Johns was reportedly working on new material with Empire Of The Sun.
