Exclusive Premiere: Fur Trade’s 8-Bit Video For ‘Voyager’

Fur Trade, the Vancouver-based musical combination of Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat) and Parker Bossley (The Gay Nineties), proudly embrace the “yacht rock” label, pulling their sounds from a patchwork of 70s and 80s soft pop, with their own modern edge. CraveOnline is proud to bring you the premiere of a fascinating 8-bit version and video for their song “Voyager”.

“Voyager” served as the first taste off of Fur Trade’s recently released debut album, Don’t Get Heavy (out now via Last Gang Records). Listen to/download the original here. The duo hunkered down in Bays’ Tugboat place recording studio for marathon writing sessions that lasted days at a time with an array of vintage gear, boutique pedals and instruments. On their extreme attention to detail and composing, Bays says of the Fur Trade approach, “Parker and I have very similar sensibilities when it comes to music that ends up in a sort of mad scientist being consumed by his experiments. I’m just obsessed with the blending of old equipment with digital sounds and the audio sculpting to us became just as essential as what riff of melody we were playing.”

Check out the 8-bit rendition, exclusively on CraveOnline!
