Imagine pulling into the parking lot of a gas station, taking a few minutes to relax, and then having a man suddenly strike you in the head out of nowhere. That’s what allegedly happened to a driver in Tennessee after a 28-year-old man got out of his Camaro in the parking lot, walked over to the victim’s truck, and began throwing fists. After the man fled, officers attempted to stop him, but he refused and sped away. While he didn’t get very far before being detained, some are still wondering why the fight happened in the first place.
Some commenters believe the assault was not random
On September 14 at around 10:50 a.m., officers responded to a report concerning an assault at a Shell Sudden Service gas station at 1550 Hankook Road, according to a post by the Clarksville Police Department on its official Facebook page.
An unknown male, later identified as 28-year-old Loy Collin Bond of Clarksville, had allegedly pulled his red Chevrolet Camaro into the station’s parking lot, walked around the victim’s truck to the driver’s side, and began hitting the unnamed driver in the head over and over again. A passenger in the truck tried to get in the middle of the fight and was assaulted by Bond as well.
By the time officers responded, Bond had already left the station, but they were able to locate the Camaro as it entered Interstate 24 going eastbound. Officers attempted to bring the vehicle to a stop, but the driver ignored law enforcement and continued to flee. Tennessee Highway Patrol later found the Camaro abandoned near Exit 19, prompting detectives from District 3 Criminal Investigation to process the vehicle.
That’s when the suspect apparently gave up and revealed himself from the nearby woods. Bond was immediately detained and confirmed as the registered owner of the Camaro.
According to the officers, both victims sustained minor injuries and said they did not recognize Bond, saying that they had been sitting in the truck at the station for about five minutes before the man assaulted them. During the altercation, they say Bond did not speak word to them. Detectives believe that the assault was a random act of violence and not, say, an outburst of road rage.
Bond was taken into custody and charged with burglary, simple assault, and evading arrest.
However, several commenters on Facebook believe that there’s more to the story. One wrote, “They knew who Bond was. And Bond knew as well. Use some common sense.”
Another was suspicious as well: “They know exactly why he attacked them doubt it was a random act.”
