Ana de Armas’ MCU Report Is Already Fueling Wild Marvel Casting Choices

Amid rumors that Ana de Armas is in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, debate has been intensifying over which role she could potentially play. Speculation about her potential debut in Avengers: Doomsday has been around for years.

Ana de Armas’ MCU rumor has fans picking the best roles for her

Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH recently took to X to ask Marvel fans what role they would like De Armas to play in the MCU. This sparked a wide range of responses, with some suggesting Mystique, while others expressing hopes that she would play one of the mystery witch-like followers of Doctor Doom.

@ValentinRuizDi9 shared side-by-side photos of Mystique from the comics and de Armas, writing in the caption, “Isn’t it obvious?” Meanwhile, @hamar61840 claimed that she is one of Doctor Doom’s witches.

Further, fans like @DanMcNice want her as Spider-Woman. @Brett1549731313 speculated that she might play Cynthia von Doom. As the name suggests, she is Doctor Doom’s mother in the comics and a powerful witch.

A few fans even want her to play Rogue. However, a considerable number of them seems to believe that she would be perfect for Mystique. Notably, Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence have previously portrayed the live-action versions of the shape-shifting mutant in the movies from 20th Century Fox.

Additionally, a few fans also revealed that they would like her to play a different X-Men character, Psylocke. Previously, Olivia Munn portrayed the character in the 2016 superhero feature X-Men: Apocalypse.

Interestingly, de Armas has already worked with Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the directors of both Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, in The Gray Man, a movie that also starred Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.

While Evans has essayed the role of Steve Rogers / Captain America in several MCU projects, Gosling recently joined the MCU cast as the next Ghost Rider. Accordingly, that movie could provide a natural gateway for de Armas to make her own transition into the MCU.
