Rideshare Passenger Leaves Driver Stunned When She Refuses to Stop Huffing Laughing Gas

A rideshare driver didn’t want to deal with an unruly passenger and decided to let the police handle the situation. On June 8 during the afternoon, 37-year-old Pamela Molina was driven right in front of the police station after she refused to leave the driver’s vehicle and continued to inhale nitrous oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas, from a large red canister, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department in Florida. Nitrous oxide is a colorless gas that has a sedative effect when inhaled.

Officers received a complaint from the unnamed driver who says that Molina wouldn’t get out of his rideshare car while she continued to huff nitrous oxide, as noted by a Facebook post from the PSLPD. Not wanting to deal with the passenger directly, the driver decided to seek assistance by driving her to the police department instead.

Even when the car was parked in front of the police station and officers approached the vehicle, Molina was still actively inhaling the gas. She “refused lawful commands” and “resisted efforts to be safely removed from the vehicle.”

Images accompanying the post reveal a large red 3.3-liter container of nitrous oxide labelled “Nitrox: The Original,” which is an unflavored version of the gas.

Fortunately, Molina was take out from the vehicle without incident. However, the 37-year-old was charged for resisting an officer without violence and inhaling nitrous oxide to induce intoxication.

Comments to the incident on Facebook praised the driver for being “very smart,” though one wondered whether the person was paid for the ride or if the passenger gave 5 stars. One user was worried about the woman’s health, writing “What a shame such a beautiful girl too … substance abuse doesn’t discriminate and I pray she gets the help she needs.”
