Holland recently shared how a meeting with Christopher Nolan turned into a memorable surprise. The actor revealed he was asked to pass along a message to Zendaya, which led to both stars joining Nolan’s upcoming epic adventure together.

While speaking with Access Hollywood, Holland recalled Nolan asking him an unexpected question during their meeting. “Do you mind if I ask you a question? And please don’t be offended,” the director said.
Holland admitted he thought the filmmaker might ask about his height before Nolan instead asked, “Would you be offended if I asked Zendaya to play Athena?” Holland laughed off the idea, replying, “Why would I be offended? … I would be honored.”
Nolan then asked Holland to break the news himself. When he got home, Zendaya naturally wanted to know how the meeting had gone. Instead of revealing everything right away, Holland simply told her, “You should read the script again.” She reminded him she already had, but he urged her to look at Athena “really closely.” Holland said he knew she’d figured it out when “the little corners of her mouth went up. It was amazing.”
Zendaya later shared her side of the story in an interview, saying she was “over the moon” when Holland first landed a role in The Odyssey. She encouraged him to make the film and said they would “figure out the schedule.” Finding out she had also been invited to meet Nolan made the experience even sweeter. “That was so special,” she said.
The film gives Tom Holland the role of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, who is played by Matt Damon. Zendaya stars as Athena, the powerful goddess of wisdom, bringing one of Greek mythology’s most important figures to the story. Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson also join the cast, making The Odyssey one of the most star-packed films on the horizon.
