Brad Pitt Makes His Debut as Sculptor in Finland Exhibition (Don’t Quit Your Day Job, Buddy)

Brad Pitt is a man of many talents – he’s an Academy Award-winning actor, an accomplished director, a prolific producer, a fashionista, and a humanitarian – but sculpting might not be among his strong suits.

And yet, if you’re a celebrity, there’s always someone willing to give you your big break in whatever side hustle you can imagine. Thus, Pitt made his debut as a sculptor in a new exhibition in Finland.

Titled “We,” the exhibition features nine works from the Fight Club star, including his maiden voyage into the art world, House A Go Go (2017), which is essentially a tiny house crafted from tree bark and tape. (Yes, we know, your kindergartener could do that, but your kindergartener does not have Pitt’s cache.) There’s also a bronze coffin, a plaster depiction of a gun fight (not as cool as it sounds), and other eyesores disguised as fine art.

Brad Pitt originally ventured into art (specifically ceramics) after his divorce from fellow actor Angelina Jolie in 2017. He has since erected a sculpture studio in his home in Los Angeles, where he entertains friends like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom he has been known to “bond over their shared love of pottery,” according to The Sun.

“For me it’s about self reflection,” Pitt said at the exhibition’s opening, which also included artwork from musician Nick Cave and artist Thomas Houseago. “It was born out of ownership over what I call a ‘radical inventory of the self.’ And getting really brutally honest with me and taking account of those I may have hurt and the moments I’ve just gotten wrong.”

We don’t know, Brad. These sculptures are pretty painful to look at. We can’t speak for Angelina, but this exhibition kind of feels like adding insult to injury.
