Spider-Man: No Way Home is the most anticipated Marvel film since Avengers: Endgame. At the end of Far From Home, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) outed Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as Spider-Man and implicated him as a murderer—a moment that was overshadowed by the return of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. Thus began an array of reports and theories regarding the MCU’s Multiverse and the return of characters from Sony’s past franchise; including Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.
At this point, there have been so many No Way Home leaks, by the time this movie actually comes out on December 17th, we’ll know the entire plot. Many of those leaks concern Garfield, who has compared being asked about his involvement in No Way Home to a game of Werewolf. For the uninitiated: Werewolf is a card game in which villagers attempt to identify and kill the werewolves, who hide amongst them. Like the game it inspired, Among Us, Werewolf is all about denial. That being said, Garfield is definitely the werewolf, impostor, and Spider-Man…
Who would’ve thought Holland would be the best secret-keeper in this whole ordeal? If you don’t want No Way Home to be (potentially) spoiled, turn back now. Aside from the fan-favorite Mephisto theory, here’s everything that definitely won’t not be in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

No Way Home Definitely Wont Not

Mysterio Return
In Far From Home, Mysterio claimed to be from the Multiverse when, in fact, he was not. Maybe he actually did know something? The villain may have “died” at the end of that movie. However, his whole bit involved virtual reality technology meant to confuse both Peter and the audience. There’s a chance that his apparent death was all part of some elaborate plan to villainize Peter Parker/Spider-Man. No Home Way appears to be setting up the Sinister Six and, according to the leaks, the only vacant position is the sixth.

Jamie Foxx's Electro
No Way Home’s first trailer might be the most talked-about thing since hard seltzer. This is due in large part to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Peter seemingly opening the Multiverse and the last-minute appearance of Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. Before the release of said trailer, Molina just openly said “yeah, I’m in this movie” annnddd Jamie Foxx so much as did as well on social media...before deleting posts that implied a revamped return of his Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. A quick glimpse of some rogue electricity in the teaser seems to confirm this as well as a handful of other Easter Eggs alluding to other villains we know from past films.

Lizard
In The Amazing Spider-Man, Garfield’s webslinger takes on Dr. Curt Connors aka Lizard (Rhys Ifans) on a very bad day. As is the case with Doc Ok, No Way Home is poised to negate any redemptive character arcs and bring in baddies like Lizard at their worst. Around the 2:26 mark in the No Way Home trailer, a strange figure creeps up on Peter. While the scene is very quick and obscure, it cuts to black following the roar of a shadowy figure that’s likely Lizard.

Sandman
Spider-Man 3’s Sandman appears to be amid the aforementioned Electro lightning storm in No Way Home’s trailer. Some fans have theorized that Flint Marko/Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church) is actually helping Spider-Man in No Way Home. However, the acknowledgment of his journey from Spider-Man 3 would contradict what seems to be happening with the other baddies. That being said, roles like Sandman and Lizard may have been recast.

William Dafoe’s Green Goblin
Green Goblin will not be recast. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 already proved that a bad idea. No, William Dafoe’s iconic Goblin will return and the all too familiar cackle and pumpkin bomb in No Way Home’s trailer confirms it. Rumor has it that Dafoe’s villain will be the film’s main antagonist and, given his status alongside Tobey Maguire in a definitive superhero movie, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Bring back the “finish it!” memes.

Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock
Another hero rumored to be implemented into the MCU is Charlie Cox’s lawyer by day Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Marvel Studios now owns the rights to Netflix’s “street-level heroes” and the studio will likely make use of the streamer’s most successful. Having Murdock show up to aid Peter in his legal troubles at the beginning of No Way Home would make sense given the former’s vocation, location, and affinity for masked vigilantes. However, those are not his forearms in the trailer.

Multiple Spider-Men
This is No Way Home’s worst kept secret but it’s still its best. With their respective villains returning, it only makes sense for Garfield and Maguire to return as Spider-Man and help the younger Peter figure his shit out. Let’s face it, Holland’s character screws the pooch in basically every film and a couple of friendly mentoring spiders would not only straighten him out but serve as poetic justice for two actors whose franchises were cut short.
