Dude, you’re not getting a Dell next time.

According to the New York Post, an 18-year-old Thousand Oaks man was playing video games with his friend last week while his Dell laptop was charging on the couch behind him. It’s unknown which video game Devon Johnson and his pal Andrew were playing, but there isn’t a chance in hell that it was more explosive than what happened on the couch in real life.

And while on the surface that might sound like a couple of hookers walked through the door a few seconds later and gave them a night they’ll never forget, well, pretty much the exact opposite of that happened, as Johnson’s laptop burst into flames. After a quick “What the hell is going on?” moment, Johnson wisely unplugs the computer and takes it outside.

And we say that was a wise move because the computer proceeded to burst into flames (cue LeBron) not one, not two but three more times even though it was no longer connected to its charger.

You have to hand it to Johnson, who acted in an extremely swift manner given the circumstances. For starters, he was lost in a world of make-believe with his buddy when he suddenly had to turn around and be an adult and save the house. He then had the smarts to grab a fire extinguisher instead of his phone for a Facebook Live session, and he still almost paid the price for it when the computer exploded for a fourth time.

Update: A representative from Dell’s PR team reached out to us and kindly asked us to include this in the story:

“We have concluded our full investigation. The battery involved was not manufactured by Dell and was not an authentic Dell battery. Dell batteries contain Dell intellectual property that helps ensure safety. Remember, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions for all electronic devices. Incompatible, counterfeit or third-party batteries may increase the risk of a safety related incident.”
