Viral Video: Man Skis Off 150-Foot Cliff, Walks Away Uninjured

It’s not every day you meet someone who skis off a 150-foot cliff and lives to tell about it. Then again, you’ve never met Devin Stratton.

The skier was hitting the slopes in the Wasatch Range in Utah last week, enjoying a brisk and whimsical stroll through the powder … until he flew off the edge of a cliff.

The entire event was captured on his GoPro camera. He walked away without a scratch.

Stratton told reporters it took him a few seconds to realize he wasn’t dead after he hit the ground, also saying it was his backpack and multiple feet of fresh snow that softened his fall.

Washington Post

“I immediately thought about my cousin who was [left a] quadrapeligic from a car accident and thought, ‘I’m gonna be paralyzed,’ ” he said Wednesday. “And then when I saw how big the cliff was when I was going over the edge, I thought I was dead for sure.”

“I [prayed] in my head in midair,” Stratton added. “It doesn’t sound like it in the raw footage because I’m cussing. But in my head, I was praying.”

Stratton also said he plans to ski again soon. I would recommend getting to know the landscape a little better beforehand.
