Runner Celebrates Way Too Early By Trying to Pump Up the Crowd, Finishes Second Place

It’s been said that it ain’t over till the fat lady sings, but it does help your cause when the dude who’s winning the race slows down to pump up a crowd that probably wasn’t more than two dozen people anyways.

According to NJ.com, Oregon steeplechaser Tanguy Pepiot was well on his way to winning the Pepsi Invite on Friday, but he decided to pump up the home crowd at Eugene’s Hayward Field 50 meters shy of the finish line.

He shouldn’t have done that.

Washington’s Meron Simon took advantage of Pepiot’s premature celebration and crossed the finish line first, leaving a stunned Pepiot on his backside contemplating how in the hell he lost the race.

Oregon still went on to smoke both Washington and Kentucky at the triangular meet, but odds are you didn’t hear about it because nobody cares about collegiate track and field.

That was pretty embarrassing, but it doesn’t get any worse than this: Probably the Most Epic Track and Field Fail Ever
