Lollapalooza Headliners: Eminem, Skrillex, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon Top Bill

We still have a few more days to go before the official lineup is announced Lollapalooza’s 10th anniversary, but industry sources confirm that the festival, held Aug. 1-3 in Chicago’s Grant Park, will include headliners Eminem, Skrillex, Kings of Leon and Arctic Monkeys, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In other words, Lollapalooza is rehashing former lineups and will be the big sigh of the major festival players this Summer, with a headliner list that is neither new or exciting. All four bands have played the fest before, with Eminem headlining in 2011 and Skrillex playing both 2011 and 2013. Kings of Leaon headlined in 2009, and Arctic Monkeys, long Lolla staples, are finally getting their headliner due.

But really, guys? No big reunions, major left hooks or surprises like Bonnaroo and even Coachella have been sporting lately? Additional headliners and the complete lineup will reportedly be announced next week, but at the end of the day, is this list of headliners really worth making the trek to Chicago in the heat of summer for?

Short answer, no. There are far too many festival options out there in 2014 for a major fest like Lollapalooza to bring a lineup with as little promise as these headliners suggest. All the same, the festival’s eight stages will undoubtedly provide a blast of musical mayhem for those who are planning to go, regardless of the lineup.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale next Tuesday, so we’ll be bringing you the full lineup any moment now….
