Chelsea is Officially the Most Hated Club in the Premier League

Chelsea are now the most hated club in the Premier League, after overtaking Manchester United in an annual poll set up to determine the team that generates the most ire from football fans.

The “League of Hate” survey polls English football fans in order to decide who was the most hated club of the last Premier League season, with Chelsea knocking Manchester United from the top spot. This is despite Chelsea failing to trouble the top four during this season, having suffered an incredibly tumultuous run of poor form that eventually saw them finishing in the middle of the table at 10th place.

Meanwhile, Man United fell into second place, with Liverpool coming in at third, then Manchester City and Arsenal ranking in fourth and fifth place respectively. The survey gave each Premier League club equal representation, making the results of the 10,000 football fans who were surveyed as balanced as possible.

Though it’s uncertain why Chelsea managed to top the list this year despite them failing to trouble any of the top-tier clubs, success alone is clearly does not lead to fans’ disdain for a squad, with last season’s champions Leicester being the second least disliked club in the survey. Charting at 19th place, Leicester finished just above Bournemouth and below Burnley.
