Prepare For The Ultimate John Carpenter Crossover Comic

Back in the ’80s, cinematic universes weren’t really a thing yet, but John Carpenter created a number of iconic roles that were portrayed by Kurt Russell. And now two of the Kurts are about to collide!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Boom! Studios will publish a six-issue crossover miniseries called Big Trouble In Little China/Escape From New York. How is that even possible? Apparently, hard luck truck driver, Jack Burton (played by Russell in Big Trouble) will find himself transported to the alternate timeline of Escape From New York, where he encounters his doppelgänger, Snake Plissken (Russell, again).

The creative team for this story will be writer Greg Pak and artist Daniel Bayliss.

Carpenter has reportedly given his blessing to this story, and Boom! previously published adaptations of both properties. Story details are still light, but the twin covers above suggest that other popular characters from both films could appear.

Big Trouble In Little China/Escape From New York # 1 will be released in October, and it won’t be the only project Boom! publishes to mark the 30th anniversary of Big Trouble. In August, Boom! Studios is releasing The Official Making of Big Trouble in Little China, while The Art of Big Trouble in Little China will follow in November.

Are you excited about the new crossover? Who’s your favorite Kurt Russell character: Snake or Jack? Let us know in the comment section! Oh, and no write-in votes for Captain Ron!
