Seth Meyers Has Banned Donald Trump From Appearing On ‘Late Night’

Donald Trump has been a solid source of political satire in the US recently, with a number of talk shows trying to soften the devastating blow that he will indeed be the Republican presidential nominee through a range of pieces on his ridiculous policies and even more ridiculous public statements.

Now, Seth Meyer’s Late Night has, in a piece slamming Trump for comments in which he implied Barack Obama sympathised with terrorists, banned Trump from ever appearing on the show. In doing so, Meyers analysed the intense bigotry that came fromTrump in the wake of the Orlando shooting, when he suggested that Islamic immigrants would likely be associated with the terrorist killer based simply on their ethnic background.

Meyers also called out Trump for banning a plethora of news outlets from attending his campaign events, most recently revoking the press privileges of reputable publication The Washington Post. “As long as The Washington Post is banned from Donald Trump’s campaign, Donald Trump will be banned from ever coming on this show,” says Meyers. Although he admits later “he wasn’t coming on [the show] anyway, let’s be honest he had no interest in being here”.

Donald Trump has since responded to the news of his ban from Meyers’ show, issuing a statement that reads “he has begged me to do the show for the last two years. I have told him emphatically ‘no,’ I only like doing shows with good ratings, which as everybody knows, I only make better (by a lot).”
