Vassos announced their separation through Instagram Stories on Friday, November 6. She reflected on their relationship and the experiences they shared.

“Two years ago, Chock and I took a leap of faith and got engaged during our season of The Golden Bachelorette,” she wrote. “We spent the last two years living what we hoped would be the beginning of our love story, sharing our families, amazing adventures, laughter, and supporting each other through challenging times.”
However, their relationship didn’t turn out as they had hoped. “We have decided to end our engagement,” Joan confirmed.
Joan also said they wanted each other to be happy. “I’m grateful for the chapter we shared,” she added.
Chapple proposed during the show’s November 2024 season finale. Their connection developed throughout the ABC dating series, and Joan previously expressed confidence in their relationship.
“It only ever got better instead of worse,” she told Us Weekly in November 2024. Reflecting on her decision to accept his proposal, she added, “I never in a million years thought I’d feel love like this again.”
The couple had discussed their wedding plans earlier this year. During a February Instagram Q&A, Chock addressed questions about their timeline. They had delayed their wedding to avoid competing with Joan’s children’s weddings.
“Let them have their year,” Chock explained, suggesting they could marry in 2027. The pair also hadn’t decided where they would live together.
Their split marks the end of a two-year engagement that once seemed headed toward marriage.
