Johansson shared the confession during a November 5 appearance on TODAY. When asked about her first celebrity crush, she quickly named Swayze.
Her crush was more than a passing childhood phase. Johansson admitted she was “obsessed” with the late actor.
Her admiration for Swayze goes back decades. Johansson previously described Dirty Dancing as a formative part of her childhood and called him her biggest crush. She also credited him and David Bowie in Labyrinth with awakening her interest in romance and attraction.
She even met Swayze years ago. In an early interview with Index Magazine, Johansson recalled spotting him at a party and immediately confessing how much she loved him. She traced her crush back to watching Dirty Dancing as a child.
Johansson’s real-life romance took a different path. She married Colin Jost in 2020 after they began dating in 2017.
Their relationship also had an awkward start. Johansson previously admitted she became so flustered on her first date with Jost that she ended the evening early.
More recently, Jost revealed that he and Johansson share a thoughtful approach to gift-giving. He also praised his wife’s generosity while discussing their holiday traditions as a couple.
Still, Swayze clearly holds a special place in Johansson’s heart. Decades after she first watched Dirty Dancing, her admiration for the late actor remains.
