Kid Rock traded election-night television for the great outdoors, returning with quite a trophy. He shared a photo with a huge bull elk, then joked that he had missed the 2026 midterms.
While much of the country followed the results, Rock apparently spent the week hunting out west. His caption made the timing impossible to ignore, especially after Democrats scored a major victory.
Kid Rock shares an elk hunting photo and jokes about the 2026 election
Rock posted the photo with the question, “What happened? Was there an election or something? I have been off the grid.” The outlet suggested Montana as the location, where he had hunted elk before, though the exact spot remained unclear.
Rock had plenty of company in country music’s hunting crowd. Cody Johnson, Chase Rice and Riley Green had shared photos of their hunts. Luke Combs regularly discussed deer hunting, while Ella Langley and Evan Felker also enjoyed time outdoors. Langley, in particular, had drawn criticism for hunting. Country stars had increasingly faced backlash for posting their kills, making Rock’s celebratory photo another potential flashpoint.
Rock’s timing carried an extra political edge. He had supported Donald Trump throughout the former reality star’s political rise. Rock recently reflected on how that friendship had cost him corporate deals and late-night invitations. He maintained that he wanted what was best for the country, despite the political divisions surrounding him.
The midterms delivered a result his political circle likely did not welcome. Democrats gained control of both the House and Senate in what many called a “blue wave.” Rock, however, appeared more interested in his elk than election analysis.
As per Whiskey Riff, most commenters celebrated the successful trip. “Politics don’t matter when you’re in the woods,” one person wrote. Another cheered, “Yee- Haw! Freezer filled for LONG time.” Others praised the bull and joked about the meat, with one anticipating “some good steaks.” One commenter played along with the caption: “Off the Grid Rock! Congrats, beautiful bull.”
