Cardi B has finally shared a name she kept private for a full year. The rapper revealed her youngest son’s name while celebrating his first birthday. She marked the occasion with a sweet tribute and photos of the little boy. The name also carries a personal meaning tied to a difficult time in her life.
Cardi B celebrates Grey Marsean Diggs’ first birthday
Cardi revealed that her son’s name is Grey Marsean Diggs in an Instagram post on Nov. 4. “Happy 1st birthday to Grey Marsean Diggs!!” she wrote alongside the pictures. Grey is Cardi’s first child with NFL player Stefon Diggs. She also shares three children, Kulture, Wave and Blossom, with her ex, Offset.
Cardi explained that carrying Grey helped her through a difficult and uncertain time. “It’s only been 1 year since meeting you but it feels like I’ve had you at my side forever,” she wrote. She said she carried him through “one of the most uncertain high pressured times” in her life. She added that having him with her gave her “a extra strength.”
The rapper also explained why the name Grey means so much to her. “I was growing you inside of me and at the same time you were giving me life!” she wrote. Cardi said her son gave “a new meaning to what a Grey day feels like.” She added that his smile, laugh and “precious spirit” brighten her life and every room.
Cardi also marked Grey’s first Halloween with a nod to his name. She shared a picture of him wearing scrubs in front of a Grey’s Anatomy sign. The birthday post also revealed his birth date, after Cardi had kept his name private since his arrival last year. In an earlier interview with Highsnobiety, she said, “I’m not sharing the name yet,” before adding, “It’s cute.” Grey’s first birthday gave Cardi B the perfect moment to finally share his name and celebrate the special place he holds in her life.
