According to PEOPLE, the brothers sent separate letters via email to 198 recipients of the Diana Award. The charity recognized them for creating “positive change in their communities and beyond.”

The 198 recipients came from 44 countries, including 23 from the United States, 49 from India, and 25 from Nigeria. Nine countries received recognition for the first time, including Ukraine and Mongolia.

Dr. Tessy Ojo CBE, chief executive of the Diana Award, praised the recipients in a statement. She said, “Young people from across the world are receiving the Diana Award this year. Their courage, compassion and determination to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges are a powerful reminder that young people are the change makers of today.”

She added that the recipients demonstrated how young people from different backgrounds could make a difference. Ojo also praised their efforts to carry forward Diana’s legacy nearly 30 years after her death.

The brothers last attended a joint engagement in July 2021, when they unveiled a statue honoring their mother at Kensington Palace. Since then, they have had limited interactions, including at Queen Elizabeth‘s funeral and King Charles‘ coronation.

Although Harry has returned to the U.K., the brothers reportedly remain out of contact. Their separate letters highlight their shared commitment to Diana’s legacy despite their ongoing estrangement.
