Caitlin Clark Thinks Travis Kelce & Chiefs Fans Might Turn on Her if She Did This

Caitlin Clark found herself navigating a tricky football loyalty test during an Indianapolis Colts game. The Indiana Fever star admitted that wearing the team’s jersey might have upset Travis Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs fans.

Clark explained the situation while chatting with Kylie Kelce about attending a Colts game last season. Although she supported Indianapolis as her hometown team, her football allegiance clearly belonged elsewhere.

Clark discussed the jersey dilemma during the Nov. 3 episode of Kylie’s Not Gonna Lie podcast. Kylie said Clark’s appearance at the Colts game “really struck a chord.” Clark explained her annual show of hometown support, adding, “It’s not the same level of fandom, okay? It’s not the same.”

The Colts had prepared a customized jersey featuring Clark’s name, but she never put it on. Kylie applauded that decision, telling her, “I was like, my girl!” Clark explained that she needed “to be loyal to the red,” referencing Kansas City’s signature color. She had also cheered for the Chiefs alongside Taylor Swift on Oct. 18.

When Kylie asked whether Clark received any criticism, the basketball star admitted she had not considered the potential backlash. “Honestly, in real time I wasn’t thinking I’m not gonna put this on because I don’t want, like, the Chiefs fans mad or Travis mad or whatever,” she said. However, she later noticed that her teammates wore their jerseys. That realization “made me look worse,” she joked. She still kept the customized jersey, calling it “cool.”

Clark also praised the Colts organization and Jim Irsay’s daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson. They assumed ownership after Irsay died in May 2025. “I love the Colts. I think it’s so cool, the Irsay daughters and what they do,” Clark said.

Her friendship with the Kelce family extended beyond football. Clark appeared on Travis and Jason’s New Heights podcast in December 2025. Donna Kelce later attended a Fever game on Sept. 22, wearing Clark’s jersey. In September, Clark gifted Caitlin 1 Nike sneakers to Travis, Jason and Chiefs coach Andy Reid. Travis praised them, saying, “Nike and Caitlin herself absolutely knocked it out of the park.”
