RHONY star Erika Hammond opened up about her fear of being rejected by a potential surrogate. The reality star became emotional as she and her husband, Ankur Jain, waited to hear back from her.
Erika Hammond discusses embryo quality concerns as she and Ankur Jain await surrogate’s decision
In a preview of Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, Hammond discussed surrogacy with her husband. “I am so excited about the call we had today,” she said. Jain responded that he knew she was interested from the moment the call began.
“I know, I knew. But now I’m like, in my feels, ‘cause one, they haven’t responded that they chose us either,” she said. In a confessional, the reality star explained that she and her husband had spoken with a potential surrogate and were now waiting for her decision. She added, “I’m in a weird space because I immediately said yes to them and I haven’t heard back, and I kinda thought we would hear back by now.”
The RHONY star said she was praying that the potential surrogate would agree to work with them so they could move forward. She explained, “Every time we have to have a new match call, it’s three weeks later, it’s another month[-long] process. And then even after you match, it’s a couple months before you’re able to implant. So I’m gonna be really defeated if she says no” (via PEOPLE).
She told her husband she was emotional about the call because she felt the candidate was the perfect surrogate for them. However, she was also concerned after recently learning that her egg quality and their embryos’ grading were not good. Jain reassured her, saying, “We’re gonna do everything we can to give it the best possible shot. If we need to, we can do another round of IVF.” He added, “I know it’s hard — I mean, I do the easy part, you do the hard part.” Hammond then joked, “You j—ed in a cup. It’s real stressful for you.”
The couple awaits their surrogacy response; whether they receive a positive response might be seen in new episodes of RHONY.
