Neve Campbell Breaks Silence on ‘Scream 8’ Plans

Nearly nine months after Scream 7 premiered, Neve Campbell has confirmed her return to the franchise. The 53-year-old actress has confirmed that she will return as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming Scream 8.

Neve Campbell confirms her role but keeps plot details secret

During her chat with AP Entertainment, Campbell confirmed the news. “I’ve got two shows that I’m developing. One I’ve sold, and Scream 8. So, you know that’s in the pipeline as well,” said the actress. When asked to spill any details about the highly anticipated eighth installment, Campbell replied, “No. You know I could never tell you anything about Scream 8. I’ll be in it.”

Campbell played Sidney Prescott in six installments of the Scream franchise between 1996 and 2011. She starred alongside Courteney Cox and David Arquette but was absent from 2023’s Scream 6 due to a disagreement over her salary.

In a June 2022 interview with People, she admitted that walking away from the franchise was a “very difficult decision.” She said, “As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. She explained that the offer she received did not reflect the value she had brought to the franchise.

“It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years,” she added.

The development of Scream 8 was revealed in April, with a team of writers hired to work on it. The announcement came after the huge success of Scream 7, which became the franchise’s highest-grossing film. The film collected more than $213 million at the global box office during its theatrical release. It was also the first installment in the franchise to receive an IMAX theatrical release.
