The Feds Aren’t Buying What Porsha Williams’ Ex Put on Paper

Simon Guobadia faces federal tax charges after prosecutors accused him of reporting false income figures on two 2021 tax returns. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams’ ex-husband was indicted on two criminal counts related to the alleged preparation and filing of false federal tax returns. The case centers on his personal tax filings and financial records from his company, Simcol Petroleum Limited.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a federal grand jury indicted Guobadia on Tuesday in Georgia. Prosecutors charged him with two counts of assisting in the preparation and filing of false federal tax returns. The indictment alleges that Guobadia reported false amounts of income on two separate tax returns in 2021.

The first return, filed in March, allegedly listed zero dollars in taxable income. Prosecutors claim Guobadia’s company reported more than $45 million in gross sales on paperwork filed that same month. The indictment alleges that Guobadia knew his taxable income and the company’s sales were higher than the amounts reflected on the return.

The second alleged false filing came in July 2021. Prosecutors claim Guobadia reported $58,231 in taxable income on that return. Meanwhile, Simcol Petroleum Limited listed nearly $31 million in gross sales. The indictment alleges that Guobadia knew his actual income and the company’s sales exceeded the reported amounts. But it alleges that he still submitted the figures.

Court records also show that authorities issued an arrest warrant for Guobadia. However, the available records do not indicate whether officials took him into custody. The indictment contains two counts related to the alleged preparation and filing of false federal tax returns, and the allegations have not been established as facts in court.

It was previously reported that Williams secured their multimillion-dollar Atlanta mansion and a seven-figure settlement in a divorce victory earlier this year. Guobadia now faces the federal tax case as the legal proceedings move forward.
