Ana Navarro opposed another attempt to impeach Donald Trump, arguing that Democrats should focus on other ways to hold his administration accountable.
During Friday’s episode of The View, the co-hosts discussed what Democrats should prioritize if they gained control of the House, Senate or both in the upcoming midterm elections.
Ana Navarro argues a third Trump impeachment would be ineffective
Navarro rejected the idea of pursuing another impeachment, pointing to the difficulty of securing enough Senate votes for a conviction.
“I am completely against impeachment. There’s 100 other ways to hold Donald Trump and his misadministration accountable,” she said.
The View co-host argued that another impeachment effort would accomplish little without the necessary 67 Senate votes.
As per The Wrap, she also questioned what Democrats would gain from pursuing a third impeachment when Trump’s political record already included two previous impeachments.
Instead, Navarro urged Democrats to consider what they could realistically achieve if voters handed them control of Congress.
She pointed out that Trump would still occupy the White House and retain the ability to reject legislation. Democrats would therefore need sufficient congressional support to override a presidential veto.
However, Navarro also cautioned against assuming an election victory before voters had cast their ballots.
“First of all, we are four days away from an election, so before we start talking about what Democrats are going to do once they win, they got to make sure they win,” she said.
Sara Haines largely supported Navarro’s position and argued that Democrats should prioritize delivering results to voters rather than spending their time on impeachment proceedings.
Haines encouraged lawmakers to investigate wrongdoing, pursue accountability and demonstrate progress on their campaign promises.
She also stressed that Democrats should introduce legislation and bring proposals to a vote, even if Trump ultimately blocked their efforts.
“Spin the wheels, show the people that you’re putting up policy, that you’re taking things to vote, that you are actually acting for the people that put you there,” Haines said.
The discussion highlighted Navarro’s belief that Democrats needed a practical governing strategy rather than another impeachment battle.
