Nick Reiner’s Fight for Legal Fees Faces $348K Complication

Nick Reiner’s effort to secure money from his trust fund for legal fees has hit a new hurdle. His former trust administrator says Nick already received a substantial sum to pay his attorney, Alan Jackson. The dispute has now moved into court as Nick seeks more money. The case raises questions about his request for additional funds to cover his legal defense.

Court documents detail payments to Alan Jackson and Reiner’s effort to access additional trust funds

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Paul Kanin, who previously managed Nick’s trust, says $348,000 was paid for Nick’s benefit. Kanin says the payments covered legal work performed by Alan Jackson over roughly two weeks in December 2025. Jackson later withdrew from Nick’s case in January 2026. Nick has since attempted to rehire the attorney but requires additional trust funds to pay him.

Kanin disputes Nick’s claim that the trust administrators have failed to provide the money he needs. He says Nick’s complaints ignore the substantial payment he already received. In court filings, Kanin described Nick’s allegations of “neglect and failure to administer” as unfounded. He argues that the earlier payment matters when considering Nick’s request for more funds.

It was previously reported that Nick took legal action against Kanin and the trust’s current administrator. Nick says they have withheld his money. The controversy centers on whether the trust administrator should make more money available to cover his legal fees. Kanin’s response points to the $348,000 payment as a key part of the disagreement.

Nick’s legal funding dispute comes as he faces charges in connection with the deaths of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. He was arrested in December 2025 and subsequently charged by prosecutors. The couple died on Dec. 14, 2025, at their Los Angeles home. Nick’s effort to regain access to trust funds remains a separate legal fight as his criminal case continues.
