Joe Amabile opens up about anxiety and other struggles after brain surgery
Joe Amabile took to Instagram to share his struggles after brain surgery. He shared an Instagram Reel with the caption, “Here are 5 things I’m struggling with, four weeks after my surgery. I’ve been posting a lot of positivity, and I’ll keep doing that — but I don’t want to disregard the fact that it comes with real ups and downs. Getting better and better every day.”
He underwent surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor called low-grade astrocytoma.
In the video, he said, “It’s been four and a half weeks since my surgery. I wanted to make this video mainly because, like, overall, I’m doing wonderful, but, like, has it all been great? Like, no, there are things I struggle with.”
Amabile discussed five challenges he face following the surgery.
He added, “If I’m scrolling too much on social media. I have a big TV in this room — if I watch it for too long, like, I do get a little lightheaded. I’ll have to go in my bedroom, turn the lights off.”
The reality star has also been “hesitant to do” socializing, adding, “I’ve been on the more cautious side.”
He further said, “Three, anxiety is something I’ve been dealing with my whole life, but it’s definitely ramped up now. Anytime I read anything about, like, the certain tumor that I have, my hands sweat, I get anxious. I feel 100% at times. I do tend to overdo it. I’m an over-doer. I’m struggling making this video, is what I’m doing.”
The last thing Amabile added was that he had been accustomed to sleeping a few hours, which he cannot do anymore. He said, “I’m someone that’s always been able to operate off of very little sleep. I can’t do that anymore, at least, at least not right now. My sleep is really important.”
According to PEOPLE, a tumor was found when Amabile went for an MRI at Prenuvo. His wife, Serena Pitt, shared the news about his tumor being removed with surgery.
