Former Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo’s attorney has opened up about reports about the former’s firing by the news outlet.
Attorney Bryan Freedman has heavily berated news agencies, saying that they have receipts to prove their stance.
Maria Bartiromo’s attorney denies Fox News fired her, calling reports ‘absolutely and unequivocally false’
According to Variety, Freedman has stated that the allegations are untrue and they are willing to take the reporting company to court. He said in a statement, “The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false.”
He added, “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses, and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth. “
Fox News issued a statement on Monday, honoring the anchor’s work for the channel. It said, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.” Bartiromo joined Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel in 2013.
The news anchor’s last appearance on air was on Aug. 9 in an episode curated around her. “Mornings with Maria” aired on Thursday morning on Fox Business Network. However, Bartiromo has not come out with any farewell statement to the news channel.
Some observers speculate that Bartiromo’s outspoken support of right-wing politics prompted the decision.
Bartiromo, however, is not alien to controversy. In June, she read an on-air apology after a guest, ‘Shark Tank’ investor Kevin O’Leary, made unsubstantiated claims on her show. He suggested opponents of his planned data center in Utah were funded by China. The anchor was also mentioned in materials connected to a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting.
