Fox News is facing criticism from one of its former executives over its handling of allegations involving Kimberly Guilfoyle. Ken LaCorte accused his former network of largely ignoring a controversy surrounding the U.S. ambassador to Greece and longtime Donald Trump ally. Hours later, however, Fox published a report about Guilfoyle’s uncertain future in the administration.
Ex-Fox News executive slams network over Kimberly Guilfoyle scandal
Former FoxNews.com executive Ken LaCorte criticized the network in a lengthy post on X. He claimed Fox News had failed to adequately cover allegations already receiving widespread attention elsewhere.
As per Variety, LaCorte called the situation “journalistic malpractice.” He argued that the omission was not simply an editorial mistake. Instead, he described it as a conscious decision to ignore a major story. Variety also noted that LaCorte spent roughly a decade running FoxNews.com.
The Kimberly Guilfoyle allegations include claims from Republican donor Eric Deters. He alleges Guilfoyle asked him to pay a $100,000 American Express bill before her Senate confirmation hearing. Deters further claims she offered access to administration officials in return. Guilfoyle’s attorney has disputed the authenticity of the messages behind those allegations.
Meanwhile, LaCorte praised The Wall Street Journal, Fox’s corporate sibling, for pursuing the story. He also suggested that “fear and inaction” among middle managers could explain what he viewed as Fox’s lack of coverage.
Still, Fox News did not remain silent indefinitely. Less than four hours after LaCorte’s post, its website published a story about reports that Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were considering Guilfoyle’s removal. Fox had also briefly addressed the controversy on Special Report days earlier.
Reports about Guilfoyle’s future in the administration have only added to the scrutiny. She could face removal from her ambassador role as officials continue weighing the allegations.
LaCorte later acknowledged Fox’s new coverage. However, his criticism had already turned the network’s handling of the Kimberly Guilfoyle scandal into a controversy of its own.
