O.J. Simpson’s Story Takes a Dark New Turn With Never-Before-Seen Footage

A new documentary plans to revisit O.J. Simpson through more than 100 hours of never-before-seen footage tied to his unreleased prank series, Juiced.

Investigation Discovery’s O.J. Unseen: Exploitation of Evil focuses on material filmed roughly a decade after Simpson’s 1995 acquittal in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Director Rebecca Halpern said the footage would reveal aspects of Simpson that audiences had not previously seen.

Halpern said the O.J. Simpson documentary followed the production of Juiced, which featured Simpson pranking unsuspecting people in scenarios that sometimes referenced his highly publicized criminal case.

“Viewers are going to watch this and see a different side of O.J. Simpson than they’ve ever seen before, thanks to the 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage that we have,” Halpern said to Us Weekly.

She also teased unexpected statements from Simpson.

“He’s going to make confessions. He’s going to say things that are going to blow people’s minds,” she added.

The source did not indicate that those “confessions” involved the murders of Brown Simpson or Goldman.

Halpern said the docuseries examined why Simpson chose to make Juiced after his acquittal. She believed he had used the project to reshape how the public viewed him.

“He had reached rock bottom in his life and needed to prove to the world that he was beloved,” she said.

The director described the series as a study of Simpson’s behavior and decision-making during that period. She also said viewers would see the two-week production of Juiced through the perspectives of its creator and crew.

O.J. Simpson’s legal history remained central to the documentary’s context. A jury acquitted the former football star of murdering Brown Simpson and Goldman in 1995. However, a civil jury found him liable for Goldman’s wrongful death and for battery against Brown Simpson in 1997 and ordered him to pay $33.5 million in damages.

O.J. Simpson died in 2024 at age 76 after battling cancer.

The upcoming series adds another examination of his life after earlier documentaries explored his football career, celebrity status, and criminal trial.

O.J. Unseen: Exploitation of Evil was scheduled to premiere September 7 and September 8 at 9 p.m. ET on Investigation Discovery, with episodes also available on HBO Max.
