Ariana Biermann revealed that money created unexpected tension in her relationship with Hudson McLeroy. The Next Gen NYC star said their financial differences became harder to ignore as her career took off.
The former couple discussed their breakup during the Next Gen NYC After Show. Ariana also addressed the financial fallout involving her parents, Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, which left her starting over financially.
Ariana says big checks became a struggle in the relationship with Hudson McLeroy
During the Season 2, Episode 8 after show, Ariana recalled having almost nothing when she moved to New York. “I literally had, I think like, $200 to my name, genuinely,” she said. Ariana attributed that situation to her parents taking her money. She said she “never got a dollar” from those earnings.
Her finances changed after Next Gen NYC Season 1. Ariana believed that shift affected her relationship with Hudson, whose family owns Zaxby’s. “He was so happy for me,” Ariana explained. However, she noticed a change once her income surpassed his. She recalled Hudson saying, “You’re bringing in more money than I’m bringing in right now. I’m not used to that.”
Ariana said the imbalance created tension, even though Hudson never intentionally tried to undermine her. She specifically remembered him skipping an event because she received payment.
That still hurt Ariana, although she maintained that Hudson supported her success. Money also became awkward during their dates. Hudson said he refused to let Ariana pay. “I don’t let Ariana pay for anything,” he explained. Ariana admitted she fought him on that.
“I only got a salad for six months on our dates,” she revealed. She wanted to contribute rather than let Hudson cover everything. The couple eventually split, briefly reunited, and tried again. Ariana confirmed in August that she remained single after their second attempt failed.
“Our paths right now are still in two different ways,” she told E! News. She added that they were “in a great place still with each other.” Ariana also emphasized her financial independence. “I am all on my own financially,” she said, explaining that posting and brand deals helped cover her bills. Meanwhile, she still credited Kim for emotional support. Before filming the reunion, Ariana said her mother encouraged her to stay true to herself.
