Phaedra Parks Explains Empathy for Kim Zolciak

Trigger Warning: This article includes discussion of alleged sexual assault, with details.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Phaedra Parks revealed she has been in contact with Kim Zolciak after allegations against Zolciak’s 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr. The 52-year-old said she texted her because she is a mother and has sons.

Phaedra says having sons helps her empathize with Kim Zolciak amid KJ Biermann’s felony case

The son, whom Zolciak shares with former NFL player Kroy Biermann, faces felony charges, including sexual battery and sodomy, stemming from an alleged sexual assault involving a schoolmate at a local gym. During a conversation with Us Weekly on October 10, Parks discussed the matter while attending a National PrEP Day celebration at The Abbey in West Hollywood.

She said, “We have [spoken]. Yep, we have [spoken]. We text, and you know, Kim is very resilient. I love Kim. We were on the show together, but outside of that, we’re both mothers. And so as a mother, and I have sons… I empathize with her, and my prayers are with her.”

The reality star further stated, “But I’ve extended every amount of support that I can for Kim, because, you know, no one knows anything. You’re innocent until proven guilty. That’s our judicial system here, and I think sometimes with social media, people are obviously adjudicating cases that have not been heard by the courts.”

Police arrested Zolciak’s son on August 17. Authorities allegedly found videos on his phone depicting sexual activity involving an underage individual. In September, a Gwinnett County grand jury indicted him on seven felony charges. The indictment includes aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, and three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16.

Biermann was later granted a $200,000 bond. His release came with strict conditions. These included electronic monitoring, virtual schooling, and restrictions on contact with the alleged victim and anyone 16 or younger. His attorney also sought a transfer hearing to discuss moving the case from Superior Court to juvenile court. Biermann is currently being charged as an adult, and the hearing was requested before any further proceedings were scheduled.
