Federal agents reportedly visited Hayden Panettiere’s West Hollywood home more than a week after her tragic death. The 36-year-old was found unresponsive at a Greenville, South Carolina, residence on August 16. She was in cardiac arrest when emergency responders arrived.

A witness told Us Weekly that more than six federal agents entered Panettiere’s West Hollywood home on the night of August 25. The agents reportedly “had a warrant to search the premises.” According to a police report obtained by the outlet, her on-and-off partner Brian Hickerson was present when Panettiere died. His brother, Zach Hickerson, was also at the scene.
Panettiere’s estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, believes Brian bears some responsibility for Panettiere’s death, though authorities have not formally accused him. Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, was reportedly found at the apartment, according to TMZ. Meanwhile, dispatch audio obtained by People referenced a possible “overdose”.
Hayden, a former child star, openly discussed her struggles with alcohol use and opioid addiction. At 15, she was first offered “happy pills” before a red-carpet event. She recalled in a 2022 People interview that the drugs made her feel “peppy” during interviews. She said, “I had no idea that this was not an appropriate thing, or what door that would open for me when it came to my addiction.”
Hayden launched her acting career in 1994 with a role on ABC’s One Life to Live. She later joined the cast of CBS’ Guiding Light in 1996 and reprised her role on the series from 1997 to 2000. She was one of the youngest Grammy Award nominees, earning recognition for her voice role as Princess Dot in the 1998 film A Bug’s Life.
Hayden is survived by her parents, father Skip Panettiere and mother Lesley Vogel, who formerly managed her career. She is also survived by her daughter, Kaya Klitschko, whom she welcomed in 2014 with her former fiancé, heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko.
