Paula Barbosa and Thomas Dintino of 90 Day Fiancé face intense relationship pressure just days before their wedding. The couple nearly called off their wedding in the August 23 episode of the TLC series.
Paula and Thomas reach a breaking point 24 hours before their scheduled wedding
Paula, 41, is an entrepreneur and free spirit from São Paulo, Brazil. Thomas, 31, is a scientist and frugal minimalist from Long Beach, California. They first met while Paula was vacationing in Los Angeles. They quickly connected and decided to pursue a relationship. Paula eventually moved from São Paulo to Long Beach to build a life with Thomas.
Their relationship, however, has not been without challenges. They have repeatedly clashed over Thomas’ particular needs and expectations. On the latest episode, Paula and Thomas clash during what is supposed to be a romantic dinner, which takes place just one day before their wedding. The couple gets into an argument because Thomas wants them to ride his bike to the restaurant to avoid paying for parking. Paula does not agree with the idea. The two continue arguing while riding the bike, Page Six reports.
Paula expressed her frustration with Thomas once they arrived at the restaurant. She told him that she sometimes feels he is not mature enough and explained that riding the bike made her uncomfortable because she was wearing a dress. She also pointed out that the ride ruined her hair and makeup. “This is too much,” she said. While she mentioned she likes adventure, she wants to enjoy it at the right time and sometimes just wants to “be an adult.”
Thomas defended his decision to ride the bike and said they had saved $20 on parking. Paula then became emotional and said she felt like she was losing herself. Thomas, however, blamed her for refusing to compromise. After their argument, Paula said she was considering going back to Brazil with her family because it would be “easy.” Thomas appeared hurt and accused her of always choosing the easiest path.
Paula called Thomas a “son of a bitch” and told him he was “so f**king annoying.” Thomas questioned their wedding plans, asking if they were still getting married the following day. Paula responded that she couldn’t do it and said the situation had become too much for her. She later told the cameras that she loved Thomas but feared being stuck in a situation that made her unhappy.
Their differences over lifestyle and expectations had also been evident in a 90 Day Fiancé clip, where Thomas offered Paula just one drawer to fit all her belongings from Brazil.
