Nick Bosa has broken his silence on X with a post that quickly caught fans’ attention. The San Francisco 49ers star responded following the dismissal of longtime NFL analyst Ryan Clark from ESPN. His brief response sparked fresh discussion about the pair’s past public disagreement.

Bosa, 28, made his first-ever post on X in almost 4 years on Thursday, July 23. He shared a link to The Athletic’s report about Clark’s firing and added only one emoji: “?.” A lot of fans linked the post to comments made by Clark about Bosa in October of 2024. Clark criticized Bosa for wearing a Make America Great Again hat during Brock Purdy’s interview at the time.
On The Pivot podcast, Clark said, “When Nick Bosa shows up in a MAGA hat during Brock Purdy’s interview, he knows exactly what he’s doing.” He also said, “Nick Bosa understands that when you wear that hat, you take a side.” The NFL subsequently fined Bosa $11,255 for violations of the NFL’s uniform and equipment policy, since the hat had a personal message on it. Bosa later said, “It was well worth it.”
Clark worked at ESPN for more than a decade before the company fired him during a live broadcast of NFL Live on Monday, July 20. ESPN informed Clark during the broadcast as media requests came in, concerned about word of his departure getting out before the company could tell him, according to The Athletic. The outlet also reported that ESPN had initially planned to fire him on Tuesday, July 21. Clark later posted on X, “Sending prayers and love to all those laid off today by ESPN.”
Clark also shared a message on Instagram after leaving. He wrote, “Before the madness of yesterday, I woke up, got in my Tundra, drove to Planet Fitness, and got to work.” He said he got peace from God, and he will continue to move forward. Travis Kelce also showed support by liking Clark’s first Instagram post after his firing.
