Millie Bobby Brown shared new details about how a visit with monks helped her mental health
Brown traveled to Japan with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, where she met monks who helped her manage her anxiety.
While opening up about her issue, she said, “I went to Japan, and I sat with these monks, and it was the most amazing experience. I’m getting teary-eyed talking about it, but it took me out of the cycle. I needed it.”
The star appeared on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast recently, where she talked about an anxiety attack that lasted for three months. She shared that the anxiety started when she and her security team were chased for 20 minutes by an unknown party. The incident left a mark on her, leading to anxiety. During her Japan trip, she was finally able to manage her mental health.
She visited a temple in Japan where the actress and her husband were meditating with 50 other individuals. That’s where they met a monk who helped her in her healing journey, according to E! News.
She said, “This one amazing gentleman who was just so calm and almost felt like he saw me. I was in the height of my anxiety at this point; it was like he knew that I was kind of broken. He was like, ‘We need to meditate.’”
She added, “It was amazing, I will never forget the feeling.” The British actress recalled that the visit took place on her husband’s birthday. It was unexpected for her to encounter the monks due to her anxiety.
“I remember being like, ‘I’m sorry, I feel like it’s my birthday, finally, peace in my heart. And my husband’s one of those people, he just never questions. He’s like, ‘What you’re telling me, this is your truth. Even if this is your anxiety, you’re still feeling it, it’s still happening to you.’”
The film producer spoke about her mental health journey on Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast titled “I Had A Panic Attack For 3 Months.” Her candid remarks highlight the importance of seeking support during difficult times.
