Former Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson has found herself in hot water after sharing a lovable video with her youngest son, Barrett “Bear” East.
Fans have doubled down on her on social media, and many have pegged the interaction as inappropriate and weird.

The viral video shows Barrett hooking her neck and planting a kiss on his mother’s lips, with someone saying, “Wow, what was that, dude?” behind the camera. Johnson captioned the clip with, “What a smooch!! Hahahaha this guy came outta nowhere!!”
According to Page Six, fans were divided in their opinion. While some questioned the appropriateness of the kiss, others relegated it to an innocent and sweet moment between mother and son.
One person wrote, “This is weird,” while another quipped, “One little peck ok but this is a lot.” A third one stretched it further, saying, “Imagine a father kisses his daughter like that bro and another doubled down, saying, “This is weird. Don’t encourage this.”
However, another section of the audience found nothing wrong with the peck on the lips. One commented, “I used to think this was kind of odd. Now I have a two-year-old son, and it is literally my favorite thing in the world. I feel so loved by him!” One Instagram user threw in a rhetorical question: “At what point did it become inappropriate for kids to kiss their parents?”
Johnson married former NFL star Andrew East in 2016, and they’ve since welcomed daughter Drew Hazel East, 6, as well as sons Jett James East, 4, and Barrett.
The gymnast has previously opened up about post-partum depression and struggles with handling Barrett, who is reportedly different from the other two kids.
