As the controversy around the Lincoln Memorial Pool stretches on, the latest to join the critics’ bandwagon is Hillary Clinton, who called out the Donald Trump administration for corruption and mishandling of the Pool.
Clinton’s potshots at the POTUS came shortly after former President Joe Biden called Trump ‘a loser’ while criticising his ‘vanity projects,’ including the pool. Clinton did not stop at the pool, but also targeted the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations.

In an X post on June 29, Clinton shared four images along with the caption, “Why can’t Trump clean a pool, or throw a real 250th party? It’s not (just) incompetence. It’s also corruption.”
Of the four images, one was a photo of the pool that still looks green instead of blue as Trump had promised; another photo showed a 250th anniversary celebration venue rather empty instead of crowded.
One photo card showed a Wall Street Journal report’s headline on the pool-renovation awarding controversy. It said, “Greenwater Services got a no-bid contract and is partly owned by a twice-convicted felon who is a Trump friend.”
Another photo card carried a statement from the non-profit, Public Citizen, saying that the Trump administration awarded nearly $103 million in federal contracts and grants for the 250th anniversary celebrations “to a network of politicized entities under the control of Trump administration officials and political allies.”
According to RadarOnline, Trump critics online rushed to support Clinton. One person alleged, “Trump has no interest in doing anything for the American people. Only for himself.” Public Citizen joined in, too. They alleged that Trump was making American taxpayers foot the bills of ‘Trumpy events’. “Trump thinks the public exists to serve him instead of the other way around,” said the non-profit.
While the 80-year-old POTUS has been boasting a lot about the supposed grandeur of his programmes like the pool renovation and the 250th anniversary celebration, both are increasingly creating more controversies than Trump may have expected.
