Britney Spears post cryptic message on Instagram
Britney Spears, prominent for her Instagram presence, recently posted a set of cryptic messages on the platform. They seemingly aimed at the public scrutiny stemming from her DUI arrest back in March 2026 (via HuffPost).
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Spears wrote, “If you’re one of those mean girls pointing and laughing and looking at your phone in the audience just look up today… River sends you guys a message!!!!!!!!”
Later that same day, Spears posted another dance video, one of her signature posts. She wrote, “When I moved out of the country for a while I changed my name for some reason and the mean girls stopped laughing!!!!! Damn I miss it there.”
With the comments disabled on the posts, fans of the pop star could not ask any follow-up questions regarding the pair of posts.
Spears previously announced that she relocated to Mexico to escape “cruel” paparazzi back in December 2024. However, The Hollywood Reporter post in 2024 shot down the claim. It remains unclear whether the move did take place.
Fans did understand the reference to River. Spears previously said that she was changing her name to River.
Spears has been a subject of numerous controversies after the drama surrounding her conservatorship ended. She sparked massive discussions with her eccentric behavior and “knife dance” videos on social media. Fans have expressed their concern for her mental health.
In March, Spears became the center of attention after she was arrested in California on suspicion of driving under the influence.
