It’s been speculated that Meghan Markle‘s guest appearance on “MasterChef Australia” included more than what viewers will eventually see. A source cited by New Idea alleged that several exchanges between the Duchess of Sussex and judge Poh Ling Yeow never made it into the final episode.
Reportedly, Yeow brought her usual cheerful energy to the set. The insider claimed she tried to keep the atmosphere relaxed by joking with Markle throughout filming. However, not every lighthearted moment is said to have landed the way she had hoped.
“Poh is full of energy—she’s always joking and lifting the mood,” the source claimed. The insider alleged that Yeow cracked a “few playful lines” while interacting with Markle. Still, “not all of it landed as intended.” As a result, the source claimed those moments were eventually left out because they didn’t work well on camera.
The alleged edits come amid reports of another behind-the-scenes issue. During a promotional clip released ahead of the episode, Yeow introduced Markle by saying, “We’ve had ‘MasterChef’ royalty in the kitchen before but no one like this,” before welcoming “The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.”
According to Sky News Australia, Markle and her team had specifically asked producers not to describe her as “royalty.” As such, the wording is believed to have left the “Suits” alum “ very frustrated.”
Meanwhile, another insider claimed the incident also affected Yeow. “It wasn’t about Meghan personally,” the source said, adding that the judge felt she had accidentally become part of an issue involving royal protocol. The insider further stated that Yeow wanted to apologize to Markle straight away. However, she was reportedly advised to let the production team manage the situation instead.
