Britney Spears has words for “mean girls” criticizing her after being arrested for DUI
According to BBC, Britney Spears was arrested on March 4 in California on suspicion of DUI after authorities said she was driving her BMW erratically at high speed.
Footage later released showed the singer struggling through a field sobriety test. The authorities said she told officers she had consumed one mimosa and was taking prescription medications, including Adderall, Lamictal, and Prozac. The footage drew massive public attention.
Spears was spared jail time and placed on informal probation for a year following her guilty plea on May 4. On May 26, she spoke about unwanted scrutiny. The icon wrote via her Instagram post, “When you get that awkward, weird feeling, you can actually start to feel perhaps too much chatter is going on behind your back… it actually affects people… I still send them love but most importantly… I hope they feel my smile… the media has been a bit much in my opinion, and I hope they can respect my unbelievable and miraculous spiritual journey… I’m so excited to embrace my journey, and I hope they stop showing embarrassing things from my past.”
After two days, she posted again alongside an edited childhood photo that seemed to show her raising her middle finger. She wrote, ‘If you’re one of those mean girls pointing and laughing and looking at your phone in the audience, just look up today….’ This was followed by a video of her dancing in a pink minidress.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that Spears, who has two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was “completely mortified” after footage of her arrest was released. “Recovery has been a difficult journey. She’s been working on rebuilding her relationship with her sons and is leaning on her support system trying to stay positive,” the source said.
