As “The Flash” runs towards production, almost every role has been filled. And after today, there’s only one major role left to cast.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Tom Cavanagh is the latest addition to “The Flash.” Cavanagh will play Harrison Wells, “a rock star in the world of physics” who created the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator that blew up earlier this season on “Arrow.” With his reputation destroyed, Wells gets his chance for redemption by helping Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) adjust to being the fastest man alive.
Cavanagh is best known for starring in “Ed” for four seasons on NBC, in addition to his appearances in “Scrubs,” “Love Monkey,” “Royal Pains,” “Eli Stone” and the feature film adaptation of Yogi Bear.
The lone character remaining to be cast is Hartley Rathaway, who is better known to comic fans as the Pied Piper. Jesse L. Martin costars in “The Flash” as Detective West; with Candice Patton as his daughter, Iris; Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne; Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow and Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon; a young man who may be the DC hero known as Vibe.
“The Flash” pilot was written by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns; with David Nutter set to direct. “The Flash” is also widely expected to make the Fall 2014 schedule on The CW.
